Website Redesign for Speed, SEO, and More Bookings: Moving Zohra Coday Music Off Wix
A business website has one job: bring in more paying customers. Here is how we redesigned Zohra Coday Music off Wix for speed, SEO, and conversions.

A business owner does not buy a website just to have something pretty online. You want a website that brings in more paying customers. That comes down to three things working together: search visibility (SEO) so the right buyers find you on Google, fast loading on phones so visitors stay instead of bouncing to a competitor, and a clear path to conversion so visitors actually book or buy.
Zohra Coday is an all-Ireland concertina player, a certified Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann teacher (TTCT), and a Fleadh Cheoil adjudicator who teaches students online and performs across North America and Ireland. Her reputation was already strong, but her old Wix website was costing her new students and event inquiries. We redesigned and rebuilt her website at zohracodaymusic.com around speed, SEO, and conversion, raising her mobile speed score from 16 to 98 and her desktop score from 27 to 100 while keeping her Square booking and payment flow effortless for students. You can see the full desktop view and interactive phone preview in the Zohra Coday Music case study.
How Her Old Wix Website Was Costing Her Bookings
Before this website redesign, Zohra's online home lived on a free-tier Wix address. It had three problems that quietly cost a business money every week:
- Visitors had no clear path to book and pay (Conversion): Online concertina lessons, live performance bookings, and competition adjudication were crowded into one generic page with no clear layout guiding a new student from first visit to booking a paid lesson.
- Google could not tell what she sold (SEO): Her home page title and main headline only said her name ("Home | Zohra Coday" and "Zohra Coday"). When someone searched Google for online concertina lessons, her site gave search engines almost nothing to match, and links shared by text or social media showed no preview to earn the click.
- Slow mobile loading drove impatient visitors away (Speed): On Google's speed test, the old Wix site scored 16 on mobile and 27 on desktop. Wix loaded a heavy pile of background code before showing the page, leaving phone visitors staring at a blank screen for nearly 7 seconds, long enough for paying students to tap back and leave.
How We Redesigned zohracodaymusic.com to Bring In More Revenue
Every decision in the redesign focused on getting more qualified visitors onto the site and turning more of those visits into paid lessons and event bookings.
1. Conversion First: Five Clear Pages Built Around Booking and Paying
When a prospective customer lands on your website, they should know within seconds what you offer, why they can trust you, and how to buy or book. We organized Zohra's site into five focused pages so every visitor type has a direct path to action:
- Home opens with a clear headline and an immediate call to action to book lessons on the very first screen.
- Lessons breaks down her online concertina instruction, student levels, and common questions to remove hesitation before booking.
- About builds buyer trust with her musical lineage, TTCT teaching diploma, and adjudication credentials.
- Events gives festival and concert organizers a dedicated place to see her live work.
- Contact makes it simple for event organizers and prospective students to reach out right away.
Just as important for revenue was keeping checkout friction at zero. Zohra's returning students already booked and paid for lessons through Square. Instead of forcing her students to learn a new checkout system, we wired every lesson button across the site straight into her existing Square booking flow, and added automatic redirects from her old shop links to the new lessons page so returning students never hit a dead end.
Moving off the Wix template also let us redesign how the site reads on both widescreen monitors and small phone screens, where most students and event organizers open a link first.

2. SEO That Brings In High-Intent Buyers
Traffic only turns into money when the people finding you are already looking for what you sell. We built every page to capture high-intent searchers on Google:
- Headlines written for what buyers search: The home page now opens with the title "Online Concertina Lessons | Zohra Coday Music" and the headline "Learn Irish music online, on the concertina," matching the exact words prospective students type into Google.
- Clear business details for Google: Behind the scenes, we added structured search details across the site so Google immediately recognizes her business as a music school offering online lessons, live performances, and answers to common student questions.
- Tracking tied to real revenue actions: We connected visitor analytics and heatmaps that track when a visitor clicks through to book a paid lesson on Square or submits a contact inquiry, so Zohra can see exactly which pages bring in paying students.
Why Speed Matters for Sales: Cutting Mobile Load Time Down to 1.6 Seconds
Most local and service customers open your website on a phone. If your page takes 6 or 7 seconds to show up, you lose people you already worked hard to reach. After our first launch pass, desktop speed was already an instant 98 and mobile had jumped from 16 on Wix to 69 (about 6 seconds for the main photo to finish loading on a phone). That was four times better than Wix, but we wanted phone visitors to see the page almost immediately so nobody bounced before reading her offer.
When we looked under the hood, three things were making phones wait:
- A decorative background glow was loading ahead of Zohra's actual photo: Behind Zohra's portrait, we had a soft, blurred version of the same photo for atmosphere. Phones were spending time downloading that large background effect before finishing her main portrait and booking headline.
- Fonts and tracking tools were cutting in line: Custom fonts and analytics were loading at the very start, making the phone wait before showing the top of the page.
- The phone had to load the whole site before showing the first screen: Instead of sending a lightweight opening screen right away, the page made phones download a much larger file before displaying the opening section and booking button.
How We Fixed It
We made three focused adjustments without changing a pixel of the visual design:
- Put Zohra's real portrait and offer first: We shrunk the decorative background glow to a tiny file and told the browser to load Zohra's sharp portrait first.
- Let the top of the page appear before extras load: We waited to load custom fonts and analytics until after the main photo, headline, and booking button are already on screen.
- Made the opening screen lightweight on every page: Every page now sends a small, ready-to-read opening screen right away, so the main photo and call to action appear in about 1.6 seconds on a phone.
The Results: A Website Built to Rank, Load Fast, and Convert
Measured on Google's speed test on the live website, the redesign delivered:
- Mobile speed: 16 to 98 on the home page, with the main top photo appearing in 1.6 seconds instead of nearly 7 so phone visitors stay on the page
- Desktop speed: 27 to 100 on the home page, appearing in well under a second
- Search readiness (SEO): 100 across all five main pages so prospective students can find her on Google
- Accessibility and Best Practices: 100 and 96 across all five main pages for a smooth experience on every device
- Zero booking friction: Every lesson call to action connects straight into her existing Square booking and payment flow
